Syn Free Tomato Ketchup | Slimming World Recipe

One of the main reasons Tomato Ketchup has to be synned is it’s very high sugar content. 500g of standard Ketchup would have upto 100g of sugar in it. One 500g carton of passata contains around 22g. This is still high but it’s a massive reduction and I am a strong believe in sugar makes you fat.
Try this syn free recipe so you don’t have to miss out. It can be stored in a bottle for around 2 weeks in the fridge.

Ingredients:

500g Passata
2 Tsp onion granules
1 Tsp garlic granules
2 Tsp celery salt
1 Tsp mustard powder
1 Tsp ground white pepper
3 Tbsp sweetener
120ml white wine vinegar
80ml white balsamic vinegar
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 Tsp paprika

Method:

  • Add all of the ingredients into a sauce pan.
  • Simmer with a lid on a low heat for 20-25 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Allow to fully cool before pouring into a bottle and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Syn Free Mushy Pea Gravy | Slimming World Recipe

I was totally skeptical about this recipe when I first tried it… It’s Mushy Pea gravy… it’s weird but it’s the latest Slimming World craze so I don’t like to feel left out 🙂 It’s actually pretty good and a great Syn free alternative to Bisto.

Ingredients:

1 Tin of Mushy Peas
1/2 Tin of chopped tomatoes
2 Beef stock cubes
Salt and Pepper
1/2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce

Method:

  • Add Mushy peas and chopped tomatoes to a small sauce pan on a low heat.
  • Sprinkle both stock cubes into the mixture and stir.
  • Add a seasoning of salt and pepper and the Worcestershire sauce and cook on a low heat for 5 minutes stirring constantly.

If you find the mixture a little too thick.. try adding a small amount of boiling water which will thin out slightly.

Enjoy x

Syn Free Creamy Peppercorn Sauce | Slimming World Recipe

I cooked my husband a lovely steak and chips tonight for his birthday treat and he was desperate for peppercorn sauce so i made a fantastic syn free sauce and it was absolutely delicious. We like it quite mild so if you like it a little more peppery just up the amount of black peppers.

I was a bit concerned that it wouldn’t taste as nice without using cream but honestly it was delicious and just as creamy.

I know you could get a packet and use the Hex-A milk but this is completely syn free so why not..

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 a finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic crushed (or two tsp of very lazy garlic)
  • 300ml of boiling water
  • Two chicken stock cubes
  • 1/2 tsp of crushed black peppercorns (I ground mine in the nutribullet)
  • 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 200ml of fat free fromage frais (get to room temperature)

Method:

  • Add the chicken stock cubes to boiling water to make your stock.. then put this in to a sauce pan on a high heat with the onion and garlic. Bring to boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • Add the crushed pepper corns and Worcestershire sauce and allow to simmer gently for around 20 minutes stirring often. The sauce should thicken but be careful to not allow it to burn.
  • Remove from the heat and add the fromage frais and stir well. Reduce heat to the very minimum to warm through and serve.
