Batch Cook – Storage Information

Fridge Storage:

  • Once cooked, allow the koftas to cool completely.
  • Place them in an airtight container and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, warm them in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or in a hot pan for a few minutes until heated through.

Freezer Storage:

  • Cooked koftas can be frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Once cooled, place them on a baking tray in a single layer and freeze for 1-2 hours. This prevents them from sticking together.
  • Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe container or bag.
  • Defrost in the fridge overnight before reheating.

Reheating from Frozen:

  • If reheating straight from frozen, use an air fryer at 180°C for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway.
  • Alternatively, bake in the oven at 180°C (fan) for 12-15 minutes or until piping hot throughout.
  • Microwaving is not recommended from frozen as it can make them chewy.

Freezing Raw Koftas:

  • If you want to freeze the koftas before cooking, shape them and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Freeze for 1-2 hours until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag or airtight container.
  • Defrost overnight in the fridge before cooking as per the recipe instructions.

Can This Recipe Be Adapted?

Yes, this recipe is easily adaptable to suit different tastes and dietary preferences. Here are a few ways you can tweak it:

1. Use Different Meats – Swap the beef mince for turkey, chicken, or even lamb mince. Just be mindful that higher fat content meats may add syns.

2. Adjust the Spice Level – If you prefer a milder taste, leave out the chilli flakes. For extra heat, add a little cayenne pepper or finely chopped fresh chilli.

3. Add Extra Herbs – Fresh mint or dill can be added for a different flavour twist.

4. Change the Shape – Instead of forming koftas, shape the mixture into burgers, meatballs, or even patties for a versatile meal option.

5. Cook in the Oven – If you don’t have an air fryer or don’t want to grill, bake them at 200°C (fan) for 15-18 minutes, turning halfway.

6. Try Different Serving Ideas – Serve in a lettuce wrap for an even lighter option, pair with Slimming World-friendly flatbreads, or enjoy with a spicy tomato dip.

7. Add a Sauce – A yoghurt and mint dip, harissa sauce, or a syn-free tomato salsa can enhance the flavour.
