Syn Free Spaghetti Bolognese | Slimming World Recipe




A good old Spag Bol is one of my favourite Slimming World recipes because it’s totally Syn free and so filling. Also it’s great for a batch cook and perfect for reheating. This recipe will serve 3-4 people.

Ingredients:

500g Lean 5% Beef mince
3 Large mushroom
1 Medium Onion
1 Red pepper
1 Green pepper
2 Garlic cloves (or 2 Tsp garlic granules)
2 Beef stock cubes
1 Tsp Dried mixed herbs (or Oregano)
2 x 400g tins of chopped tomatoes
Salt and pepper
Frylight

Method:

– Finely chop onion, red pepper, green pepper and slice mushrooms.
– Spray a pan with Frylight, add mince and garlic and cook until mince is browned.
– Add peppers and onion and cook until softened.
– Add mushrooms, crushed stock cubes, dried mixed herbs, pinch of salt and pepper and chopped tomatoes.
– Cover with a lid and simmer on a medium heat for 25-30 minutes or a very low heat for 1 hour. Stir regularly.

Serve over Spaghetti, pasta or lots of Speed vegetables.

Syn Free Chicken And Bacon Cheesy Tomato Pasta | Slimming World Recipe




I put together this fantastic pasta tonight mainly from what I had lingering in the kitchen and it was delicious 🙂 It will serve 2 people or feel free to freeze the second portion. As long as you use the Dairylea from your Healthy Extra allowance this is totally syn free.

Ingredients:

(Serves 2… or freeze your second portion): 

250g dried Pasta
1 Large Chicken breast
3 Rashers of bacon with all fat removed
1 Red pepper
1 Onion
4 Tbsp of frozen sweetcorn (or tinned)
2 Dairylea light triangles (Use your healthy extra A or 3 syns)
250g Passata
2 Tsp Garlic granules (or 2 cloves garlic)
1/2 Tsp Dried mixed herbs
1 Chicken stock cube
Salt and pepper
Frylight

Method:

  • Bring water to boil in a pan and add the pasta.
  • Chop pepper and onion and add to a frying pan with a little Frylight. Cook until softened.
  • Meanwhile slice your chicken breast into diced pieces and remove all fat from bacon and cut into small strips.
  • Add sweetcorn, chicken and bacon to the frying pan and cook on a medium heat stirring regularly. If you find the mixture to be sticking or too dry add a spoonful of water from the pasta pan.
  • Add garlic, crushed stock cube, herbs, salt and pepper and cook for a further minute or two ensuring the chicken and bacon are cooked.
  • Reduce heat and add the Dairylea triangles and stir until melted and fully covering the mixture. Add half of your passata and stir.
  • Drain the pasta and add to the frying pan. Mix the pasta in ensuring it is fully covered and then decide if you think it needs a little more passata. We like our pasta quite dry but if you would prefer this to be more saucy just add more.
  • Cook for a couple of minutes on a low heat ensuring it is fully warmed through.

Syn Free Butternut Squash Lasagna | Slimming World Recipe




Most Slimming World followers are going crazy for the new Butternut Squash range in Sainsburys. Including the new Lasagna sheets. Pasta is Syn free anyway but you can cut the carbs and calories by using these new lasagna sheets.

This Lasagna is brilliant for batch cooking.. simply freeze portions for reheating later on.

If you don’t fancy the Butternut Squash you can change this for normal pasta lasagna sheets.

Ingredients:

(Serves 6 portions)

500g Extra Lean 5% Minced Beef
5 Tbsp Tomato Puree
1 Tin of chopped tomatoes 400g
1 Carton of passata 500g
2 Beef Stock Cubes
3 Tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tsp Dried mixed herbs
2 Cloves Garlic chopped (or 2 Tsp garlic granules)
1 Stick of Celery finely chopped
1 Carrot peeled and finely chopped
1 Onion diced
6 Large Mushrooms sliced thinly
1 Courgette sliced
1 Red Pepper finely chopped
1 Green or yellow Pepper finely chopped
Butternut Squash lasagna sheets
Frylight

500 g Fat Free Natural Yogurt (or quark)
2 Medium eggs
1 tsp Mustard Powder
120 g Low Fat Cheddar cheese grated (1/2 Healthy extra A per portion)

Method:

  • Heat a large pan and spray with Frylight
  • Add the onion, carrot, celery and garlic to the pan and cook until softened.
  • Add the mince to the pan and cook until browned.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, courgette, pepper and mushrooms and cook for a further few minutes.
  • Add the crumbled stock cubes, chopped tomatoes, passata and tomato puree. Cover with a lid if possible and simmer on a low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Spread half of your mixture over the bottom of a Lasagna dish.
  • Cover with a layer of your butternut squash Lasagna sheets.
  • Spread the rest of your mixture over the top of this.

Make your White sauce:

  • Beat the eggs in a bowl and add the yogurt bit by bit whisking as you go.
  • Add mustard powder and a pinch of salt and whisk further.
  • Spoon the white mixture on top of the lasagna covering every gap.
  • Sprinkle over your grated cheese.
  • Bake in the oven on 180c for 40 – 50 minutes.

9 Freeze-Ahead Batch Cook Meals | Slimming World Prep




Prepping, batch cooking and freezing meals is just smart behavior for any busy mum or hard working family. Anyone who has followed the Slimming World plan will know how hard it can be to think of good Syn free meals each day.. and usually they take quite a bit of effort to make. So it just makes perfect sense to batch cook and freeze portions to use any time.

I have compiled a list of my delicious recipes which make perfect batch cooking and freezing.

Most of these recipes are fine for reheating in the microwave but please make sure you store them in a microwave suitable container. I would suggest keeping these in the freezer for no longer than one month.


1. Chilli beef strips

Reheat in the microwave from frozen.
Make sure this is piping hot before serving.

 

 

 

2. BBQ Pulled Pork

Reheat in the microwave from frozen. Make sure this is piping hot before serving.
Serve in a roll, or with rice or with chips.

 


 

3. Beef in Black bean sauce

Works best fully defrosting before reheating in the microwave to avoid the beef going tough.

 

 

 

4. Cottage pie

Works best fully defrosting before reheating in the microwave to avoid the potato going watery.

 

 

5. Chicken Tikka curry

Simply reheat from frozen in the microwave but please ensure the chicken is piping hot before serving.

 




 

6.  Chicken and Bacon tomato pasta

This one is perfect for reheating and it even tastes better 🙂 But please ensure the chicken is piping hot before serving.

 

 

7. Chilli con carne

Simply reheat from frozen but ensure this is piping hot before serving.

 

 

 

8. Beef Curry

Simply reheat in the microwave from frozen but please ensure this is piping hot before serving.

 

 

 

9. Butternut squash lasgna

This can be made into 6 portions and reheated from frozen.

Syn Free Tagliatelle Carbonara Pasta | Slimming World Recipe




I have made something similar to this before but I used Philadelphia in the past.. this time i decided to use Dairylea and it improved the recipe 100%.

Cooking time: 30 minutes
Serves: 2
Syns: None (6 syns if not using as healthy extra)

Ingredients:

250g Tagliatelle pasta (or more if you are mega hungry) (Could also use another pasta like penne etc…)
5 Rashers of bacon (smoked or unsmoked) with all fat removed before cooking
200g Tinned lean ham
1 Ham stock cube (or you could use chicken)
2 Cloves of garlic (or 2 tsp of garlic powder or flakes)
1/2 Tsp of dried mixed herbs
150g Dairylea light soft spread (use for your healthy extra A) (or 6 syns)
3 Large mushrooms (or frozen mushroom)
1 Large leek
1 Red pepper
Salt and pepper to season
Fry light

Method:

  • Add water to a pan, once boiling add your 250g of pasta and cook until soft.
  • Meanwhile chop your pepper, leek and mushrooms. Spray a pan with Fry light and add pepper and leek. Cook until soft.
  • Meanwhile remove all fat from your rashers of bacon and cut your ham into cubes.
  • Add your mushrooms, bacon and ham to the pan, cook on a low heat.
  • Add your garlic, mixed herbs, crushed stock cube, salt and pepper. If you find it is sticking add a spoonful of your pasta water to moisten.
  • Turn down to a low heat and add your cheese. Be careful that the cheese does not burn or stick. Keep it moving.
  • When the pasta is cooked do not drain. Use tongs to remove the pasta and add it to the pan of ingredients. Wet starchy pasta allows the sauce to stick together more and adds a little water to your sauce also.
  • Make sure the pasta is covered in all of the cheese and everything is mixed together well and serve.

This recipe is only Syn free is you are using the Cheese as your healthy extra A. If not please add 6 Syns.
This recipe could be served with a speedy salad.. or replace the bacon with extra speed foods such as extra peppers, onions or spinach.
I wouldn’t suggest having this recipe too often as bacon and ham is fairly high in salt and fat content. But it makes an excellent treat.

Syn Free Spaghetti Carbonara | Slimming World Recipe




I love this recipe it’s just so tasty and it can be played with to add whatever is in the fridge.. you could also use Slimming World Sausages, Slimming World Meatballs etc.. Just temember it’s only syn free if you are using your Healthy extra A.

Ingredients: (serves 2 people)

  • 250g wholewheat spaghetti (or normal what ever you prefer)
  • 1/2 an onion
  • 6 rashers of bacon with all fat removed
  • 200g tin of lean ham
  • 1/2 a red pepper
  • a small amout of finely chopped leek
  • 2 or 3 large mushrooms
  • 170g soft light cheese (Use as your Healthy extra allowance, otherwise this will be approx 7  syns per serving)
  • 2 tsps garlic powder (or 2 garlic cloves, or 2 tsps lazy garlic)
  • Salt and pepper to season
  • Frylight

Method:

  • Place 250g of spaghetti into a pan of boiling water and cook until soft.
  • Meanwhile chop your pepper, onion, mushrooms and leek.
  • Heat your frying pan and spray with frylight.
  • Cut your bacon rashers into small pieces and cube your tinned ham into small chunks.
  • Add bacon, pepper and onion into your pan and fry over a low heat.
  • Add garlic, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add mushrooms and leek and fry slowly until all softened.
  • Add your cubed ham and soft cheese and cook over a very low heat stirring all of the mixture together until everything is fully covered. Be careful not to allow the cheese to burn.
  • Drain the spaghetti and add to the mixture. Stir and heat through before serving.
